“Nearly everyone on the scene had grown up with the ‘60s as a reference point… We wanted to have our own version of that. When you have lots of these shared experiences it counts for so much in terms of having shorthand between disciplines, there was a synergy between photography and music which hasn't been matched since  Bailey photographed the Rolling Stones.”

- Rankin, ‘Cool Britannia! The enduring appeal of Britpop's gritty and glamorous style’, The Standard, 2023
